Experimental composition from hydrographic score
Based on the speculation and premonition of near future catastrophe that looks to a future under the rising seas, New Wave is an experimental composition based upon the sonification of tidal datasets from 18 coastal areas surrounding Norway and the Archipelago. The data is captured and processed through API datasets, open sourced from the Norwegian Hydrographic Office which then undergo a process of translation from numeric output to sine wave synthesis whereby each entry is assigned a different tonality, forming a potentially infinite hydrographic score. Each notation of the tidal variation is read and re-presented to form an original composition for deep listening as the notion of an ever present system of tides, rising and falling with the pull of the earth and the sun is brought to the present moment as a materialized notations that contain in them, and in between them the full expression of the lunar tidal rhythm.
